Dundee United's Will Ferry will miss the upcoming Dundee derby due to a groin injury. The influential defender missed the Celtic game with the same issue, sparking conspiracy theories about a potential Tannadice exit.

What happened?

Dundee United boss Jim Goodwin has confirmed that Will Ferry will sit out Saturday's Tannadice clash with Dundee. Ferry had a scan, which revealed a minor issue in his groin area.

Why it matters for Dundee United

The injury comes as Dundee United sits 5th in Premiership with 3 points, having scored 2 goals and conceded 1, and are 3 points behind leaders Celtic.

What comes next?

Goodwin also added there was nothing new on the transfer front with Ferry, who has been linked with moves to Sigma Olomouc and Anderlecht, and has been offered a new deal by Dundee United. The team will face Dundee without Ferry, and will look to bounce back from their recent loss. Dundee have signed Bobby Wales on-loan from Swansea City, a player Goodwin knows from his time at Kilmarnock. Goodwin also wished Dundee skipper Simon Murray a speedy recovery from his ACL injury. Miller Thompson also missed out, but midfielder Dylan Tait returns after his Premier Sports Cup suspension.
