Dundee United delivered a commanding away performance to beat St Mirren 3-0 in the Scottish Premiership. The result lifts them to sixth place in the standings on seven points after six games, strengthening their position ahead of the international break.

Goals from Jesse Randall, Lyall Cameron and Kevin Ciubotaru sealed the points before half-time. Randall opened the scoring after just six minutes, finishing a move set up by Daniel Bennie. Cameron doubled the advantage six minutes later, converting a pass from Idjessi Metsoko. Ciubotaru completed the scoring on the stroke of half-time, heading home from Randall's assist.

Clinical finishing defines win

Despite having only 40% of possession, United were ruthlessly efficient. They registered nine shots on target from 13 attempts, forcing St Mirren goalkeeper J. Chapman into six saves. In contrast, the home side failed to test United's Jack Walton, who did not have to make a single save all afternoon. The defensive solidity was a welcome change from the 4-0 defeat to Celtic earlier in the season.

Manager J. Goodwin made three changes in the second half to manage the game, introducing Will Ferry, Lachlan Rose and Abdoulaye Yoro. The team handled the closing stages comfortably, with St Mirren's only threat coming from set-pieces. The clean sheet is United's second of the league campaign and follows a 4-0 win at Kilmarnock.

Looking ahead

The victory marks a positive shift in form, with United now unbeaten in three of their last four matches. Goodwin will hope to have the currently sidelined Mehdi Merghem and Miller Thomson, who are listed on our injuries page, available again soon to bolster his options. The win at St Mirren provides a solid platform for the next phase of the season.
