Eight Dundee United players have been selected for international duty during the September break. The call-ups span from senior World Cup participants to promising youth internationals, with players set to travel across Europe, Asia, and the Americas.
Jesse Randall, who has scored two goals in seven appearances this season, will join the New Zealand squad. The 24-year-old forward, fresh from scoring in the 3-0 win over St Mirren, will play in friendlies against China PR and Panama before the Kirin Cup. "The first of two summer signings who featured in the 2026 FIFA World Cup," said Randall, referencing his own journey.
Michael Forbes, the 22-year-old Northern Ireland international, is also included. Forbes, who scored his first Dundee United goal in the 1-1 draw with Falkirk earlier this month, will feature in Nations League matches against Georgia, Hungary, and Ukraine. His senior international debut came in November 2023, with manager Michael O’Neill handing a fresh-faced Forbes his bow as a late substitute.
New deadline-day signing Zidane Iqbal will link up with Iraq for Gulf Cup group games against Oman, Kuwait, and Saudi Arabia. The 23-year-old midfielder, who has 28 caps and played at the 2026 World Cup, made his club debut against Falkirk. Fellow summer arrival Panutche Camará is set for Guinea-Bissau's AFCON qualifiers against Tanzania and Nigeria.
Romania Under-21 international Kevin Ciubotaru, who netted his first goal for the club in Paisley, has Euro qualifiers against Cyprus, Finland, and Spain. Moldova's Iurie Iovu will face Slovakia, the Faroe Islands, and Kazakhstan in the Nations League.
Two academy graduates currently out on loan have also been selected for Scotland Under-21s. Sam Cleall-Harding, who has played every minute for Dunfermline Athletic, and Ruairidh Adams, on loan at Airdrieonians, will face Azerbaijan and Bulgaria in UEFA qualifiers.
The club, which sits fourth in the Premiership with 10 points from seven games, will monitor the players' progress during the break. Their next fixture is away to Falkirk on 10 October. The depth of international recognition provides a boost as the team prepares for the next phase of the season, with key players like Randall and Forbes in form.
