Dundee United manager Jim Goodwin is focused on finding the 'final little piece' to their game as his side prepares to host Aberdeen at Tannadice this weekend. The team sits fourth in the Premiership with 14 points from nine games, a record of four wins, two draws and three losses, and is currently on a four-match unbeaten league run.

Aberdeen arrive in seventh place, just a point behind United, after a 3-1 win over St Mirren last weekend. Goodwin acknowledged the visitors' threat but stressed his team's focus remains on their own performance. "The message to the players has been very consistent from day one of pre-season really," the manager said.

Team Performance

United's recent form, which includes a 1-1 draw with St Johnstone, has shown promise in attack. Lyall Cameron's 79th-minute equaliser in that match, assisted by Jesse Randall, highlighted the team's ability to fight back. Goodwin described the team's play in the middle and front areas as 'really good' and 'very, very exciting to watch'. He hopes his strikers will now find the finishing touch and confidence to convert that promise into more goals, with top scorer Jesse Randall having netted twice this season.

Goodwin stated.

The manager is not downbeat about the missing element. He said the squad will keep practising and working hard to improve. The immediate task is to build on a solid defensive record that has seen them concede only 10 goals this season while scoring 13, giving them a goal difference of plus three.

Looking Ahead

Goodwin emphasised that his team must give Aberdeen respect but concentrate on improving from their previous outing. Their most recent result was a 3-2 victory over Aberdeen on Saturday 24 October, part of a recent run of one win, one draw and two losses in their last four matches. After the Aberdeen clash, United's attention turns to a home fixture against Kilmarnock on Wednesday 28 October. Kilmarnock currently sit 11th in the table, offering another opportunity for Dundee United to strengthen their position in the top half.

The last meeting between these sides was a 3-2 victory for Dundee United just days ago, a result that will provide confidence. With the team aiming to close the ten-point gap to leaders Celtic, every match in this compact period is significant. The squad will look to build on other recent results, including a 1-0 win over Hibernian on Saturday 10 October and a 3-0 victory at St Mirren on Saturday 19 September.
